Clients and commercial fit: a reflection from the Louvre
Outside the Louvre, I shared something that had just happened: someone had asked for information, we had discussed the service and price, but the conversation did not end with a clear decision. The trip became the setting for a reflection on who it makes sense to work with.

01Initial interest is not yet an agreement
The person in the example asked what was needed to join, how much it cost and how to proceed. We then had a call. From the outside, that sequence might look like an almost completed sale, but interest and a decision are different stages.
My takeaway is not to organise a project as though it were confirmed before there is a shared next step. A pleasant conversation can reveal curiosity, doubts or a lack of fit. It helps to clarify this before committing delivery time.

02Expectations also need to be understood
In the video, I interpret a gap between the guarantees that person wanted and their confidence in their own participation. That is my reading of a particular conversation; it does not establish what the other person was thinking.
Applied to a clearer sales process, it is worth asking what the client expects, what they need from you and which part they will need to handle. If those answers do not fit your service, verbally accepting a price does not resolve the difference.
03A clear boundary is more useful than forcing a sale
I also describe pushing during the call and sensing resistance. Looking back, the useful lesson is that insisting does not guarantee a good start to a relationship. Pressure can end a conversation without resolving the doubts within it.
As a working approach, you can ask for a clear answer, agree a reasonable time to follow up and accept a no. You do not need to interpret every silence as a lie or label someone difficult to decide that a collaboration is not a fit.
04Travel does not remove business decisions
Recording in France does not change the responsibility of choosing projects and looking after professional relationships. That is why I wanted to share the episode without elaborate production: behind a travel image, there are still calls, doubts and everyday decisions.
The exercise I suggest from this experience is to review a conversation that stalled. Separate what you know from what you interpreted, and write down which question could have clarified the situation earlier. That review is more useful than pursuing a sale simply because you already invested time in it.
