Gemini expands connected apps: what to check before business use
Google’s announcement from 23 September 2026: context, permissions and a small test for assessing integrations without exposing the whole business.

01What was announced
On 23 September 2026, Google announced another wave of connected apps for Gemini, including productivity tools such as Airtable, Linear and monday.com. The announcement describes a rollout, not immediate universal availability. Check the source and your account for access and conditions. This article discusses that dated announcement rather than presenting it as today’s news.

02What it means for a real process
The editorial recommendation is to start with a read-only task: find the status of three fictional requests. Having a connector does not establish answer accuracy or permission to see every team record. Define who is asking, what they should see and what a correct answer contains.
Include a request for a record outside the permitted scope. The acceptable outcome is refusal or an explanation of insufficient access, not an attempt to obtain it elsewhere. This is a check for your environment; the integration has not been tested as part of this article.
03A test you can document
In a test account, record the app, requested permissions, date and questions. Compare each answer with its source record and retain evidence without personal data. Do not connect production credentials to investigate availability. If the feature is absent, record “unavailable in this account” and revisit later.
04Where it fits in your roadmap
A new capability deserves a trial when it addresses friction you have already identified. If project statuses are outdated, another interface will not fix them by itself. Establish who updates each record, then assess whether retrieval becomes easier. Continue because your task measurably improves, not because many apps were announced.
